EOLE anti-frost tower (Anti-Frost System)
The most effective solution for protecting agricultural crops against frost
Operating Principle
At night, thermal inversion occurs -warm air collects at a height of 10-20 metres, while cold, heavier air settles directly over the crops in the 0-10 metre zone, creating a frost risk. The EOLE tower works as a powerful air engine: it draws in the warm air from the upper layer and directs it downward with a strong airflow, straight onto the ground surface. The continuous air movement not only raises the temperature in the coldest layer but also triggers a biological response in plants - flowers begin to release abscisic acid, which increases their natural resistance to frost.
Protection Area and Efficiency
- Protected area: up to 7.2 ha (depending on the type of frost)
- Operating temperature: down to -4 °C without additional equipment; with the heater - down to -6 °C
- Return on investment: the system typically pays for itself after the first frost event
Tower Models
- Static tower - a more compact solution for protecting a smaller area
- Tilting tower - with two positions, significantly easing installation, maintenance and repair

Engine Options
| Engine | Model | Power | Fuel | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Diesel engine | John Deere 6068HFU82 | 143 kW (163 HP) | Diesel | High reliability and durability, proven cold-start performance |
| Gas engine | Ford RSG-862 | - | LPG | Complies with the Stage V emission standard, more environmentally friendly |
| Electric engine | AL-280M4 | 100 kW | Electricity | With frequency inverter; connects to the mains or a generator; zero emissions |
| Tractor coupling | - | Depends on the tractor | - | Uses the tractor's existing power take-off (PTO) shaft - reduces the initial investment |
Additional Equipment - Heater for Moderate Frost
If the temperature drops below -4 °C, the heater unit raises the air temperature by an additional 2 °C, providing protection down to -6 °C. The heater consists of a chimney, a burner and a pump (mechanical or electric), and is equipped with two turbines (each with 3 speed settings) and three diesel injectors with individual shut-off valves for flow regulation.
Control and Automation
Sensors and communication: local and remote temperature sensors (accuracy 0.3 °C, remote sensor range up to 30 m), an anemometer for wind speed measurement (0.8-45 m/s, accuracy 0.5), and an industrial IoT communication protocol transmitting data every 15 minutes.
- Manual control - simple, quick start-up from the control panel
- Remote control - start the system and monitor its status via a mobile app
- Automatic control - start-up based on real-time data from weather stations, choosing the optimal moment
Environmentally Friendly Solution
The system operates without chemicals and poses no risk to flora or fauna - a 100% environmentally friendly technology. Low-emission options (LPG and electric engines) are also available, meeting strict European environmental requirements.
Delivery and Installation
The tower foundation requires a base plate and anchor bolt kit (all materials supplied by SIA "TERMOLAT"), a concrete foundation, and an optimal concrete curing period of at least 21 days before the tower is installed. The tower head weighs 2,822 kg and the helical tube weighs 1,550 kg, so unloading requires a forklift with a lifting capacity of at least 3 tonnes and a lifting height of 6 m, as well as at least two people. Installation and initial start-up are carried out by certified SPAG Group technicians.
SIA "TERMOLAT" is the official representative of SPAG Group in the Baltic region, providing delivery, installation and technical support of EOLE anti-frost systems.
